Collection and verification methodology

How GIGAZA describes collecting and reviewing materials, and how to read records and request corrections.

A summary of the website’s published About page and FAQ. Summary prepared: 28 September 2026.

Collecting materials with context

The FAQ lists testimony, photographs, videos, documents, medical or legal records, and information relating to a person, event or damaged location as materials that can be submitted.

Include the source, approximate date, location and any context you can safely share. Do not include sensitive information that does not need to be shared.

Reviewing sources and information

The About page describes checking sources, dates, locations, visual evidence and supporting materials. The FAQ describes comparison with multiple independent sources, including location records, media and testimony, and marking materials whose verification is incomplete accordingly.

This summarises the website’s stated approach; it is not an independent audit of every record. Review the evidence and references available on the original record page. Inclusion in the archive alone does not establish every detail or determine legal admissibility.

Reading dates and context

Distinguish the event date stated within a record from the publication or archive date displayed in a listing. These dates may differ and should not be substituted for one another.

When citing a record, retain its title, URL, named source and your access date. If a date or location is unclear, keep that uncertainty visible rather than inferring unpublished details.

Privacy and evidence handling

The FAQ describes submitting materials without revealing your identity and requesting a safe contact method. It also states that personal information is not published without explicit consent.

The pages summarised here do not set out a detailed chain-of-custody protocol, retention period or specific technical guarantees. Contact the team before sending sensitive materials to discuss submission requirements. Do not include sensitive data in your initial enquiry.

Reports and quotation

The FAQ permits research and quotation with source attribution. This is not a blanket open licence for everything on the website. Check the terms within each report and any separate rights covering third-party material.

An original report file is distinct from its archive-page summary. Use the original document link where available and retain the publisher’s name and report reference.

Requesting a correction or removal

The FAQ directs requests to office@gigaza.org. Include the record URL, the detail to review and the reason for your request. Supply only supporting information that is safe to share. This summary does not promise a response time or a particular outcome.
